Practice Marine Conservation in Hawaii

Throughout the years, Hawaii's growing population has had adverse effects on near-shore marine life populations. With proper management practices, these resources can be saved for future generations and beyond. Marine Life Conservation Districts (MLCDs), like Hanauma Bay, Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and strict fishing regulations have been designed to conserve, aid and replenish these marine resources.  Through our stewardship program, stewards will have access to a Ho'okipa Cart as well as a Marine Specimen table that will be utilized to inform our visiting public about marine life biology, proper reef etiquette, marine life conservation districts, history of Hanauma Bay as well as native plant biology & conservation.
