Youth Stewardship - E Mālama Hanauma

Youth Stewardship and Service-Learning opportunities can be tailored to the learning goals of the class, including standards-based programs. Examples of topics that can be addressed in your orientation include: coastal plant biology, cultural history, marine debris, marine life identification, marine protected areas, and proper fishing etiquette (e.g., organism size regulation).

Stewardship/Service-Learning opportunities provide the following for participants:
  • foster concern and appreciation for the coastal environment
  • develop team-building (laulima) skills
  • connect course work with challenges in the community
  • encourage/inspire wise stewardship of our natural resources
